Position Overview

NBCUniversal Media Group is seeking a Manager of Strategic Communications to help tell the stories behind the products, technology, data and innovation powering the future of entertainment.

This role will support external communications across our Product, Technology, Growth and Decision Sciences organizations, helping translate complex technical capabilities, product advancements and data-driven insights into compelling narratives for business, technology and consumer audiences.

We're looking for a self-starter who loves storytelling and is passionate about how technology shapes businesses and consumer experiences. The ideal candidate brings experience in consumer technology, enterprise technology, product communications or data-driven storytelling, with the curiosity and instincts in developing fresh ideas for how to tell a bigger story.

This is a high-visibility role for a communications professional who will be a hands-on contributor from day one, with the opportunity to help shape how NBCUniversal communicates its technology and innovation story.

Here you can:

• Help shape communications strategy. Partner closely with the Director and SVP of Strategic Communications to develop and execute proactive external communications strategies that elevate NBCUniversal's technology capabilities, product innovation and business priorities.

• Turn strategy into strong execution. Write and edit press releases, communications plans, messaging frameworks, FAQs, executive talking points, speeches, presentations and other high-impact materials, tailoring complex information for different audiences.

• Work closely with senior leaders. Partner with subject matter experts across Product, Technology, Growth and Decision Sciences to identify compelling stories, sharpen messages and prepare leaders for high-profile external opportunities.

• Build visibility for our technology leaders. Support executive thought leadership, speaking engagements, industry conferences and awards, from identifying opportunities and developing submissions to preparing executives and supporting events.

• Engage with media. Manage press inquiries and develop relationships with reporters covering technology, business, data, innovation and entertainment. Identify fresh angles and new opportunities to bring NBCUniversal's innovation stories to the market.

• Connect the dots across the business. Collaborate with communications colleagues and cross-functional partners to ensure technology and product narratives support broader company priorities and major milestones.

• Stay ahead of what's next. Follow developments in consumer technology, enterprise technology, data, AI, streaming and digital experiences, identifying emerging trends and opportunities that can inform our storytelling.

• Keep complex initiatives moving. Manage multiple communications workstreams, deadlines and processes with strong attention to detail, sound judgment and a commitment to excellent execution.

The Person

• 5+ years of experience in communications, product communications, technology communications, strategic storytelling or a related field, ideally with experience communicating about consumer technology, enterprise technology, digital products, data or innovation.

• An exceptional writer and storyteller who can make complex, technical or data-heavy subjects understandable, interesting and relevant to a broad audience. Comfortable developing everything from press releases and executive messaging to longer-form narratives and strategic communications plans.

• A strong understanding of technology and its business impact. You don't need to be an engineer or data scientist, but you should be intellectually curious, comfortable engaging with technical experts and able to quickly grasp how products, platforms and technologies work and why they matter.

• Experience working with senior executives and cross-functional teams, with the confidence, professionalism and judgment to navigate high-visibility initiatives and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

• Strategic curiosity paired with a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality. You're excited to contribute ideas, recognize emerging opportunities and help shape the larger narrative, while also taking ownership of the writing, coordination and execution needed to bring those ideas to life.

• Strong communications instincts and an understanding of earned media, including what makes a story newsworthy, how to frame a compelling angle and how to tailor messaging for different audiences. Experience working directly with reporters is valuable.

• Excellent judgment, organization and project management skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities and deliver thoughtful, accurate work in a fast-moving, matrixed environment.

• A collaborative, proactive approach and a genuine interest in learning, asking smart questions and building relationships across disciplines.

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, business, technology or a related field.

Experience in media, entertainment or streaming is welcome, but not required. We're particularly interested in candidates who bring perspectives from the broader technology ecosystem and are excited to apply that experience at the intersection of technology, media and entertainment.
