About the Role

NewsBreak is looking for a Local Advertising Sales Manager to help build our local advertiser business — a hybrid Business Development and Account Management role for a seller who understands how local businesses buy. You'll win regional, multi-location, and franchise advertisers in your vertical, open partner channels that reach smaller businesses at scale, and turn what works into a playbook the team can repeat market by market. Local advertising is a top commercial priority for NewsBreak. This is a senior, quota-carrying position.

Where You'll Focus

Local advertisers buy differently depending on their size and their industry, so this role is defined by both.

Customer segments

• Regional & Multi-Location Businesses (primary focus): Regional operators, service companies with multiple branches, dealer groups, and practice groups that have real marketing budgets and a dedicated decision-maker.

• Franchise Systems: Brand headquarters and their franchisees, where one relationship can open many local markets.

• Local Marketing Partners: Agencies, resellers, and marketing service providers that help us reach small businesses we can't serve efficiently one by one.

Verticals

NewsBreak's local advertising business spans a wide range of categories, and we expect that range to keep growing. Representative categories include:

• Home & Property Services: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, pest control, landscaping, cleaning, and moving.

• Health & Wellness: Dental, med spas, clinics, physical therapy, and veterinary care.

• Automotive: Dealer groups, repair and maintenance, and tire chains.

• Legal & Professional Services: Personal injury, family law, and other local professional firms.

• Real Estate & Financial Services: Agents and brokerages, mortgage lenders, insurance agencies, and local banks and credit unions.

• Restaurants, Retail & Entertainment: Restaurants, regional retail chains, local events, and attractions.

• Education: Tutoring, preschools, driving schools, and private schools.

This list is not exhaustive. You'll start in the category that best matches your background and our current priorities, and the team's coverage will expand into more local advertising categories as the business grows.

Responsibilities

• Vertical Ownership: Own your local vertical end to end — market map, target account list, and go-to-market plan across priority markets (DMAs).

• New Business: Prospect, pitch, and close regional, multi-location, and franchise advertisers through the full sales cycle, from owners and GMs to marketing directors and their agencies.

• Franchise Expansion: Build brand-level relationships and roll programs out across locations and franchisees.

• Channel Development: Source, negotiate, and launch agency, reseller, and other local marketing partnerships that extend our reach to smaller businesses.

• Outcome-Based Selling: Build proposals around what local businesses pay for — calls, leads, booked appointments, and store visits — and prove the return with clear performance reporting.

• Revenue Ownership: Own your quarterly local revenue goal end to end — pipeline, forecast, onboarding, and ongoing account growth, working with account management on retention and expansion.

• Product Partnership: Partner directly with the engineering/product team, bringing field insights back to improve local ad formats, targeting, measurement, lead quality, and pricing.

• Team Enablement: Turn early wins into repeatable vertical pitches, case studies, and sales tools to uplevel team capability.

• Reporting: Report on account health, new-logo pipeline, partner performance, and local revenue to the GM and cross-functional stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years in digital advertising, media, or SaaS sales or business development, including 3+ years selling to regional, multi-location, franchise, or other local businesses.

• Demonstrated ownership of a revenue goal, with a record of beating quota and closing five- to six-figure annual deals.

• Deep knowledge of at least one local advertising category, such as home and property services, health and wellness, or automotive.

• Experience at a local-focused ad platform, lead-generation marketplace, local media group, or digital agency serving local businesses.

• Fluency in local performance marketing: pay-per-lead and pay-per-call models, local search, cost per lead, cost per call, booked appointments, and ROI.

• Ability to engage both business owners and senior marketing leaders, and to adjust your pitch for each.

• Proficiency with Salesforce or a similar CRM, and disciplined pipeline management and forecasting.

• Track record partnering cross-functionally with engineering/product teams to resolve client performance issues.

• Comfortable building from an early stage — new-business BD and existing-book AM work in the same role, with travel to client meetings and industry events.

Nice to have

• Existing relationships with franchise systems or multi-location brands in a local advertising category.

• Experience launching agency or reseller partner programs.

• Familiarity with call tracking tools (e.g., CallRail, Invoca) and with compliance considerations such as TCPA and category-specific advertising rules.

• Comfort using AI tools to speed up account research, prospecting, and proposals.

Benefits

We offer a competitive benefits package:

• Health, dental, and vision care for you and your family

• Top-tier 401(k) plan with company matching

• Paid time off and paid holidays

• Paid parental leave

• FSA and commuter benefits programs

• Team activity budget
